Dear Khoa & An,
We went on a another So Cal trip earlier this week where we spent most of the time in San Diego. We went to the San Diego zoo, which was so much fun. I thoroughly enjoyed the entire day. Big Brother had so so much fun playing with cousins. We bought the unlimited bus and sky tram access so we went on there multiple times and you all thoroughly enjoyed each and every ride. You were mesmerized by all the animals, but especially the elephants. Even Little Sister was so excited that you crashed for an hour before waking up and asking mommy to go back to playing and exploring again. We also went to La Jolla Cove, where the sea lions and seals lie on the sand and both of you for the first time got an up close and personal view of these animals. You loved it, especially against the backdrop of the sand and the ocean. Big Brother really loves chasing the waves, so much that Mom and Dad would predict that you will grow to love surfing in the future. Little Sis loves watching the sea lion sleep and would creep up slowly to watch them sleeping so peacefully. You love to chase the waves early too, but with mommy holding you. You still have some apprehension with the waves (thank goodness), otherwise you would be so easily whisked away. The waves were rough, but you both love the ocean so much. Later that evening, we went to a lake nearby Ong Ba Noi's house where you both fed the ducks with bread and blew bubbles. Your innocence and your endless love of playing make me so happy and so proud to be able to be your mom.
On the next day, we went to Disneyland, where you two really played your heart out. We went on the tractor ride & The Little Mermaid at California Adventure, and the Small World, Jungle Cruise, Dumbo, the Merry go round, roller coaster ride at Toontown. While big brother loved every ride, little sis was a little scare at some of the faster rides. We also watched the parades - which you both loved too. You were excited to see all the characters and kept waving hi to everyone. It was so cute to see you both again enjoyed being at Disneyland. You played so hard, hence when we got to Ong Ba Ngoai's house, you were so hungry and ate like you have never eaten. We drove home late, but we survived the long car ride and made it back at 2am. We had a very fun trip and I can't wait to go on another trip again.
Love,
mommy

Dear Khoa & An,
We just got back from a So Cal trip where you both had so much fun. We drove. It was your first trip in 8 months. We had a rough start, but we made there at 2am. We went to the beach in the morning, which you both love so so much. The water was extremely cold, so we got out of the water quickly, but you both still had fun building sand castle or playing with the sand in general. After nap, we drove down to San Diego for your cousin's first communion.
Khoa, you love your cousin, Jonathan. You two were like best friends. We saw in you a mature and independent young man that we had never seen before. You played so well with your cousins and other kids - actually you just went off by yourself without ever needing your parents (something we are totally foreign to). The following day, we went to a big party for Junior, where you continue to show so much independence and played tirelessly until 6:30, when we had to go back to Fountain Valley. On Monday, we went to Disneyland, where you had fun. You didn't sleep well, so you seem tired, but you loved your time there. We went home and all of us took a three hour nap before driving back to Milpitas. It was an exhausting trip, but I am glad that we went. You missed one day from school and were so excited to tell your teacher and friends about where you had been.
An, you did much better on your trip than we expected. You slept well and played well, but didn't eat much. You also grew and displayed an independence and curiosity that we had never seen before. You were so excited and ran and played hard. You were tired and crashed at the party and slept on my hand for three hours. After your nap, you became alive and every one who were at the party loved seeing your curious and beautiful self. You also slept so well in the car, which is something I didn't expect at all. Boy did you love Disneyland. You loved Small World and were just so mesmerized with all the exciting things that were happening.
Overall, we had a wonderful time and cannot wait for our next trip.

Dear Khoa & An,
Obviously I wasn't able to make my goal of writing everyday. We had such a fun weekend with so many activities. We went to the children's museum discovery on Saturday; you both love being there with so many things to do and play with. Your favorites are probably the water play. In the evening, we went to a party at Daddy's friend's house. It was a small party with no kids so both of you just had each other to entertain, but I think you enjoyed it. On Sunday, we went to Amabelle's first communion party where you both truly had so much fun playing on the jumper. We stayed really late and naps didn't take place until 3 pm. both of you were thoroughly tired and took a 3 hour nap. By the time you woke up, we just decided to hang out at home and recover from all the activities. Big Brother loved "Big Hero 6" and we finished the evening with some puzzles.
Lately, Big Brother has been so excited about everything. We are going through some discipline issue. I am hoping that these will just be transient and our sweet boy will be back soon. You are going through some night terror, which affect all of our sleep. There is nothing we can do to snap you out of your terror, so we just have to watch you cry hysterically.
Little Sister is going through croup cough again, but you are still ever so active and inquisitive. You love to climb and have no fear when we take to the park. You climb really high and would not let me help you (or attempt to catch you in case you fall). You are very keen observer and will emulate everything that Big Brother is doing. You have a very strong personality and know exactly what you want (and will get what you want no matter what). Lately, you LOVE to go to the park, so much that it is hard to get you to go home. I also have an easy time feeding you if we are at the park. You are still very shy when you see a stranger. You will hide behind me and ask me questions about the people, but you would not approach them (unless they initiate the approach). You still love dogs - you love to pet them and have no fear of them (despite my own fear).
Love you both very much,
Mommy

Just Because
Dear Khoa & An,
It has been so long since Mommy has written to my two favorite people in the world. Life is busy with work and taking care of two kids, so I have decided that I will try to make entries during my lunch breaks at work so that later on, we all can have something to reflect upon and treasure. I don't know whether I will be able to commit to the task, but I will try my best.
My dear Khoa, today is your second day back at Stratford after a week long of Spring Break. You had so much fun during your week off. We went fishing at a lake in Pleasanton one day, to the Emma Prusch park where you and I spend a lot of time on the slide and tractor pretending. You have so much fun with the pretend game and were just so happy. I love to see you happy - it makes all these hard work so worth it. Our family also went tidepooling at Moss Beach in Half Moon Bay where you and your sisters had so much fun looking for the sea creatures and playing with sand. You two were not very patient so we didn't get to see many animals, but you both love playing in the sand, jumping up and down, playing with dump trucks and tractors. Being near the ocean made us all happy and uplifted, so we will try to make more beach trips. We also practiced bicycling on some days; you were so excited and went so fast the training wheels felt apart. I wish I could spend all the days playing with you and seeing your infectious and beautiful smiles on your handsome face. Lately, you like to call yourself "Anh Hai Minh Khoa Spiderman Nam Windlifter". It is the most awesome name ever - it tells us exactly what your favorites things in the world (spiderman, airplane). The Nam part is because you are convinced you are already five years old.
We had a rough night with your first day back at school. You cried a lot and didn't want to go to sleep even though you were so tired (you had decided to resist nap at school). It pains Mom and Dad to see you so overtired, and we keep praying that this nap resistance stage will be over soon and our happy son will be returning to us. When you throw tantrums, you cry a lot and won't listen to anything we say, so we just try to listen to your crying until you calm down and realize what's happening.
My beautiful An: you are ever so much more inquisitive and opinionated. You know exactly what's going on around you and have an opinion about everything. We cannot fool you with anything. If there was ever a strong-willed child, you would rank on the top list. Once you form a decision, there is nothing that can convince you otherwise. You just had a rough week with a viral infection/cold and an eye infection. You went to four different doctors all within one week, so often that you don't get intimidated at the doctor's office anymore. You follow exactly what the doctor asks you to do and don't even give a tiny cry. We also celebrated Mommy's birthday where you and Anh Hai had so much blowing the candles and cutting cakes. Lately, you really love your monkey blanket. You remain so very picky at what you will eat (and eat very very little). You remain a very good sleeper (napping for three hours with Mommy and taking about 10 hours sleep at night). You still love to breastfeed even though I have been trying to get you to stop. I think it is your immediate source of comfort. You love bac Mai more than anyone in this world and I am so happy that you do. She loves you so much and both Mommy and Daddy are so glad we have found such a wonderful person to take care of you. You also have developed a love of book which I am very happy about. I don't have as much time to read to you as I did with your brother.
I will go now. Hugs and kisses to my beautiful angels. I love you very much and think about you every single moment.
